Autumn Days and Nights at River Watch

September and October are our favorite months
at River Watch. In the heady, sunlit days of autumn   colors burn slow in rich golden tints,  apples ripen, a second season of berries arrives, and the farmstands
and farmers markets offer every color and kind
of squash, potato, pumpkin, and tomato known to our sophisticated palate.

Take advantage of our special autumn rates to enjoy all the beauties of River Watch and mid-coast Maine for less.  Spend evenings by the fire, and days nosing around the river's inlets and coves in our canoe and kayaks, walk the rocky shoreline at nearby Birch Point State Park, Crescent Beach, Owls Head Light, and the Georges River Path -- or head up to Camden to climb Mt Batty and walk through the beautiful Camden Hills conservation land.   Or hop the ferry from Port Clyde for a day on Monhegan Island, famous for its rugged coast, birdwatching opportunities, and primeval woodlands.

Enjoy the leisurely pace of coastal life when the summer crowds have dispersed, but the shops, restaurants, cafes, and galleries in nearby Camden, Rockland, and Rockport are in full swing. There's a different slant of light this time of year, and a quieter ambiance. It's the perfect time to slip away for a refreshing respite by the sea.
