After spending 8 years “vacationing” while moving children to and from colleges, it was great to get back to peaceful St. George, Maine. River Watch is beyond spectacular!! Brilliant! Peaceful! You have thought of everything and God supplies the beautiful sunsets and spectacular star-gazing. We even experienced several shooting stars and the wild winds of hurricane Karen.  We look forward to returning....
                                October 2013

Been sleeping around these parts for some 50 years now and I must admit a terrific abode. A great hideaway for all of us, from ages 4 to 60 plus. Thanks for your generosity.     August, 2013

What a special place! We had a splendid week at River Watch – and were lucky to get to see the Perseids Meteor showers with just a quarter-moon. Everything was comfortable, the weather was fine, and we look forward to a repeat visit soon.
                      August 2013

We had an absolutely marvelous time and the place was perfect for us.   We loved it.  Thank you so much.                                                      July 2011

I want to thank you for the opportunity to enjoy your Maine home. You have thought of everything. It was a most pleasant time for all of us. We really enjoyed going out together in the kayaks and canoe.                                           July 2011

What a great place! The views inside and outside are spectacular. One never tires of the ever-changing view of the river. River Watch is also the perfect spot from which to explore Maine. Rockland, the Farnsworth with Arnold Newman and Alex Katz exhibitions; Port Clyde -- the village and a vanishing way of life. Camden and Rockport for their scenic beauty and just driving around seeing a different place        August   2010

River Watch is such a tranquil and scenic place and we have had a wonderful time. The weather has been very good to us, and the best we have ever had on a New England vactation. We've enjoyed the river wildlife spotting, including a seal and a heron! Not so lucky catching any fish, but stillfun trying! Beautiful sunsets.
We were in time for the last day of the Rocklkand Lobster Festival and spent the rest of the week exploring the area. Always happy to return to River Watch and simply relax!          June   2010

River Watch provides an unassuming view from the road, yet opens upon the turn of the doorkey to enchantment. The cove was mid-tide, shore birds wading, and the sun lowering in the west. The wine glasses soon raised in a toast to our good fortune and deep thanks to you....
    "This place is simply amazing...
                                                           October, 2010

Our return trip to River Watch was as wonderful and memorable as our first.
From the moment we walked through the door and laid eyes on the view we were transported to that other place of tranquility and centeredness. Every thing tasted bettter, felt better, and all things slowed down to the rhythm of the tides.Thank ou for sharing this wonderful retreat with us.                                                                                 August, 2009

Well, we kept our promise -- this time we stayed longer and did less. We just love it here and are already planning to return! Thank you  again for providing such a welcoming home away from home."                                             August, 2009

"Our first vacation for three years and River Watch was the perfect venue.  We have had five perfect sunsets in a row to watch and enjoy. We explored the coves and St. George River in the Old Town Otters. They're great kayaks -- fast and track well, but stable when the swell makes the ride a little bumpy. We had fun watching the resident blue herons and the sundry kingfishers patrolling the area. Tips for other visitors include the lobster rolls at Keag Store, crab rolls and pastries from the local bakery, the surprising culinary enterprise of Owls Head General Store. Other hidden treasures were Fort Point Trail, complete with old apple trees, Mount Batty in Camden, and for the musicians out there, NK Music Store, in Rockport, with their unusual and highly desirable selection of guitars...    Other more practical aspects of River Watch we appreciated were the wireless internet connection, the USB input to the stereo system, and the skylights in the bedroom ceilings.        June   2008

It's early and it's our last morning sipping coffee in the Adirondacks by the water. In the immortal words of Jeff Godlblum from the movie, The Big Chill,             We took a vote and we're never leaving.' Okay... if we have to leave, we are definitely coming back!  We took advantage of your kayaks, we found a nice four-mile run around the cove, picked wildflowers, took tons of photos, barbecued steaks, sipped wine and were humbled by the breathtaking sunsets. Each night when we finally tumbled into our very comfy bed, it was a treat to look  up and see the stars. We took day trips to Camden, Rockland, Castine, Belfast....but... next time, next visit, we won't do so much. Each day we couldn't wait to  return and sit in 'our' chairs by the water sipping wine and thanking God we were lucky enough to stumble onto River Watch.                                                  Rick, 2007

River Watch has been a beautiful, peaceful retreat for us this week. We've been fascinated by the high and low tides and. We had so much fun in the kayaks - thank you! I found everything I needed in your kitchen and loved using it. You were so thorough in providing for our needs - We felt very cared for... We are sorry it is time to leave but we had a memorable stay!                              July 2007

We have been renting houses in this area for the past 17 summers—New Harbor, Friendship, Owls Head—all wonderful, but all slightly quirky.  (In one we had to carry our meals from the kitchen through the bedroom out to the deck. Another had a beautiful interior but no outside space to speak of.) As we suspected from the River Watch photos and website, we’d finally found the perfect Maine rental.  And we did, truthfully, we enjoyed it all. Although the highlights were swimming and paddling at dusk, a memory to carry us through the winter. Look forward to returning                                   August 2012

We had a lovely, peaceful, restful stay at River Watch! Herons, bald eagles, osprey, and loons! Thank you for creating this beautiful retreat.                       August 2013

Our first vacation in many years – could this be a more perfect place for it? No, this is beauty and serenity beyond imagining. Joy to be here with friends! Thank you for thinking of everything, the simple beauty and comfort you have furnished River Watch with.
                  October   2013

Thanks again for everything. Each year we look forward to seeing what changes have been made.  Love the new deck!

I just want to tell you how much I amd my family enjoyed staying at River Watch earlier this month. The house and property were perfect and the vacation was everything we wanted and more.             July    2011

THANK YOU, THANK YOU! I can't tell you how at home I feel.      September 2011

Our family had a wonderful, relaxing time at River Watch. So much so that our toddler took his first four-hour nap here! Some of our favorite things about River Watch:  the open layout of the main house, the outdoor seating to watch the tides and wildlife, and the kayaks and canoe. During our week here, our family also visited Acadia National Park (worth the two-hour drive) and Monhegan Island. Both places had the most amazing views...
"Thank you for helping us have a memorable, incredible family vacation.                                                                  August  2010

"Thank you for sharing this lovely place! Six busy people from the Washington, DC area found a haven here -- and a needed opportunity to connect with the tides, sunsets, coastal views, lighthouses....lobsters! We had a mishap on Monhegan...even that had its upsdie -- how impressive were the first responders, and no place better to rest with feet up looking at the views...
"We thoroughly loved our week here.... "
                                                July,  2010

Enchanting, through rain, fog, sun. Everyone loved everything! The dog was mesmerized by the birds, and the rest of us by the tides.
Thank you for such thoughtful care of your property."                        September, 2010

We have had a great visit. The Farnsworth Museum, a puffin boat watch, lazy kayak trips, and just relaxing made this an oasis of peace and calm! We loved Miranda's Cafe; and In Good Company, the Thomaston Cafe (breakfast and dinner!) were all wonderful. Thank you for such a great place to stay and a terrific place to celebrate my birthday by the fire                          July 2009

We have had a lovely week in this comfortable and beautiful place. There were six days of sunshine (with breezes), and just a touch of picturesque fog each early morning. We rambled the region; Amalfi gave us an excellent supper one night. All just perfect. Thank you for the lovely place - so well sited and appointed! We are refreshed, renewed, and reluctant to leave."                      July  2008

What a beautiful retreat! The house frames the outdoors so perfectly that it is easy to choose to stay inside... and not leave.... A week of sunny days, with dramatic tides setting the rhythm of our lazy days.  Some gems to recommend:     Birch Point Beach State Park -- tidal pools, sea glass, perfect for families and picnics, lots of hermit crabs, baby lobsters, and more.
Cafe Miranda -- fabulously eclectic menu, food prepared elegantly with a light touch. Get there early if you haven't booked ahead!"                                       August   2008

Sparkling sunsets, silent nights, squacking birds, simmering lobsters -- all add up to a picture-perfect week."        June    2008

"We love the rhythm of life at River Watch...Watching the wildlife has been a treat. We have seen pilated woodpeckers. cedar wax wings. eider ducks, and an osprey. In fact, I was sad to see the osprey carry off a duckling.
"We celebrated our forty-first anniversary here. We spent the night in the Refuge."
                                              July, 2008

A beautiful week with the family at River Watch comes to a close. Thank you, Kathryn and Joe, for sharing this beautiful, serene spot with us. There's such an intimacy with nature here. We are all dreading the return to our congested daily lives. Hopefully, we can carry some of the peace into our lives at home."                         September 2008

Thanks to our many
guests,  who say it all
